Talk Program 2007
Topic:
“Constituent Assembly election in Nepal – Opportunities and challenges"
As we all know, the historical movement of 2006 is leading the country towards a new Nepal. Political changes and eight parties unity has given lots of hopes to Nepalese people for a long lasting peace in the country. However, the path to the long lasting peace doesn’t look too easy. Most of the political parties and Nepalese people are convinced that the election for Constituent Assembly is the only way out to the current political crisis and it is believed that the election will lead the country towards a peaceful and prosperous “Nepal”.
The date for the CA election has been fixed for 22nd of November 2007. The increasing armed movements and instability in Terai region appears to be the greatest challenges for the upcoming election. As the CA election is being held for the first time in Nepal, Nepalese people are still uncertain about the ‘Nepal after election’ and it has been a common agenda for discussion within Nepali and international communities.
To discuss about the challenges and opportunities of the upcoming election in Nepal and to make appropriate recommendations to Nepali authorities, NEHURIPD, Australia has organized a discussion program. The details of the program are as follows:
