Nepalis in Australia form a forum to support fight for freedom
Nepalis living abroad are concerned about Nepal – the unity among them in USA has been exemplary.
And, I know Nepalis in other places too form a community and try to forget that they are living far away
from their homeland. Following the example of USA, Nepalis in Australia have formed a forum called
Nepalese Forum for Human Rights and People’s Democracy (NEHURIPD), Australia to support the
movement for democracy in Nepal recently.

A friend of mine sent me a fax about this. The fax signed by Ramesh Pandey, the co-ordinator of the
forum, stated the achievement of 2046 BS movement has been murdered by king’s Feb 1 step. Besides
due to long political conflict people are in such a situation where they are unable to enjoy their human
rights, thus to support the fight for democracy and human rights, Nepalis in Australia met at Pacific
College of Technology and formed the forum.

The forum seeks an active role in disseminating information to the international organizations concerned
about democracy and human rights and tries to get support from them. The committee formed included
Ramesh Poudel, Chitra Limbu, Chola Kant Bhusal, Yubaraj Bhattarai, Dhurba Subedi, Kamal Tiwari,
Hom Nath Pandey, Saroj Sapkota and Mahendra Oli.
I don’t know how much they will be able to work but I really hope they would perform the task that they
want to and contribute for the fight for freedom.
